About Living Springs International LSI is registered in the Philippines and our training center and office is in Butuan City, Northern Mindanao. We are a member of the Philippine Mission Association, a member of the Perspectives Family and associated with World Outreach International. The LSI Board is international, multi-cultural and comprises a wide range of skilled and experienced people.
How We Operate The Philippines is home to our ‘Training Center’. From there, ministry programs are developed for use, both in the Philippines and overseas. Missionaries are also trained at the center and through the cooperation of ‘Local Churches’ and ‘Facilitating Agencies’, missionary teams are sent and deployed overseas. The Philippines Director, Ian Calo, is ably assisted by the Philippines Leadership Team and the leadership Team. The Founders and International Directors, Max and Dorothy Chismon, are based in Asia and oversee the international ministry development of LSI. They are ably assisted by the International Leadership Team and the Philippine Leadership Team. Our History Our ministry began in 1976 as Philippine Aid Ministries with a vision to see the development of a strong national Church. During this period our ministry consisted of Leadership Seminars, a teaching magazine, and from 1987, the Ministry Development Course. By 1989 the Filipino Church began transitioning from a missionary receiving Church to missionary sending and our ministry changed accordingly to mission mobilization and training. By 1994 the Filipino Church was emerging as a significant missionary sending Church and our ministry had changed significantly. To reflect this change in our ministry, that same year, we changed our name to Living Springs International. LSI’s contribution has been substantial, in assisting the Filipino Church in becoming a significant missions player on the world scene. Since 1994 more than 6000 Filipino Pastors, leaders and church people have been through our training programs. This has contributed to all Least Reached People groups in the Philippines receiving a viable Christian witness and the Philippines now being one of the top ten missionary sending Churches in the world. Our training programs are now being conducted in many other countries around the world, particularly in developing countries. For LSI the Philippines has, and is proving to be, a significant country for program development. Training programs that prove effective in the Philippines become exportable and reproducible in most other non-western countries in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe.
